Itinerary: |
| We cross the Oakland Bay Bridge to head to the East Bay. After passing the Altamont Pass, the sprawling San Joaquin Valley approaches, later followed by the Sierra Foothills. Glaciers made the magnificent granite monuments that form the range and the spectacular stone landscape within Yosemite National Park. We will take time to see the most impressive major sites in the park, including natural stone masterpieces such as El Capitan, Half Dome, and Cathedral Spires, along with the park's more spectacular waterfalls, including Bridalveil Falls, Vernal Falls, Yosemite Falls (the 3rd tallest waterfall in the world), and the Merced River. The tour through the park will be professionally narrated, so you will have an opportunity to learn about the park's geologic and natural history. If time and conditions permit, we may hike to one of the 3 Giant Sequoia Redwood groves, the largest trees in the world and found only in California.
